Our Board and Train program is designed for the busy dog owner. For 4 weeks your dog will reside in our home and be treated as part of the family. I work with each dog to find what motivates them to create a custom training plan. Once your dog has an understanding of the behaviors, we take them out and about to proof these behaviors around all sorts of distractions.
Includes a thorough “go home” session and 3 follow-up sessions to ensure everyone is set up for success and training is maintained once your dog goes home. – All training tools included

What training methods and tools do we use and why?
At Kingsbury Canine we want to help you build successful communication skills with your dog. Our goal is to create well rounded family dogs that understand social ques, can confidently take corrections, and can be a happy and confident family dog. Every dog is different and will require a different approach to learning, so we utilize all four psychological quadrants and a variety of training methods. We use training tools such as prong collars and ecollars layered in over known commands to insure reliability after properly conditioned to the tools. The most important thing is that the tools are used in a humane, productive way with correct timing. We use these tools to teach dogs how to confidently take corrections and how to avoid making mistakes in the future, which leads to confident and reliable dogs. We do NOT use fear, force or pain to teach commands.
What do you use to motivate the dog in training?
Every dog is different, and thus will require different motivators. While a lot of trainers simply use food in training, we work with each dog to figure out what their motivator is. We use a variety of motivators, with play and bond building being our primary focus. We take time to teach dog proper play etiquette; fetch, tug, wrestling, keep away, etc. Dogs thrive when these social interactions are a part of their lives. However, some dogs don’t want to play no matter how hard we try. For those dogs, affection, movement, freedom, and/or high value food typically work best. In our time working together we will work to figure just what motivates your dog
Will your training programs fix all of my dog’s issues?
There are so many variables that go into the efficiency and longevity of your dog’s training; genetics, consistency during and after training, severity of behaviors, etc. While our programs will give your dog a solid foundation and teach valuable life skills, you cannot develop a perfect dog in one session, class, or board and train. Regression in training is normal. Even if you train a dog for several years straight and then let things slip for a few weeks, training can regress. This is why we offer follow up training and lifetime support for dogs that go through our programs. We are always here for you if you have questions, concerns, or if problems arise. Our programs are proven effective in the short and long term, so long as you continue to do the work necessary to maintain your dog’s new behaviors and take advantage of follow up sessions as necessary.
